15 Min Chickpea Spicy Burger [ Vegan + High-Protein ]

A quick & yummy plant-based burger ready in minutes. Made of chickpeas, herbs and spices it has a nice meaty texture close to that of 'real' burgers. Customise with your own spices 🦍🤙

Burger patty
  • 3-4 tablespoons chickpeas
  • 1-2 tablespoons wholemeal flour
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional but nice!)
  • 1 bunch fresh coriander
  • pepper to taste
  • paprika to taste
  • red chillies to taste
  • garlic powder (or 1 fresh clove)
  • onion powder (or about 1/4 chopped onion)
Burger assemble
  • 1 burger bun (or any bread you like)
  • 2-3 slices of fresh tomato
  • lettuce
  • mayo, ketchup and other sauces of preference
Burger patty
  1. Add all burger ingredients to a food processor and blend to form a paste. Depending on your food processor you will have to push the mixture down (use a spatula) and blend a few times to get all the ingredients well mixed together. Add water 1 tablespoon at a time if too dry.

  2. Mould into a round burger shape and cook in a pan (without oil if you have a good non-stick pan) for a few minutes each side.

  3. Assemble the burger in your favourite bread and add lettuce, tomato and your fave sauces. We made fresh vegan ketchup for the one in the pic - recipe coming soon!👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Recipe Notes

You might end up with 2 patties... you can either do a double decker or store one in the fridge / freezer for later use 😎
